How to spot a fake sale in Pakistan (and find real discounts)
Updated 10 October 2026
Every season the same banners come back: “Flat 50% off”, “Up to 70%”, “Mega sale”. Some are real savings. Many are not. These checks take a minute and tell you whether a sale is worth your money.
1. Check the was-price, not the percentage
A discount is only as real as the price it's cut from. Some sellers raise the price a few weeks before a sale, then “cut” it back to where it was. The badge says 40% off; you pay the normal price.
If you've been watching an item, you already know its usual price. If you haven't, look at the same product on the brand's own website, on its official app, and at one or two other sellers. If the “was” price appears nowhere except the sale banner, treat the discount as marketing.
2. Read “up to” as “a few items”
“Up to 70% off” usually means a handful of items reach 70% and most of the sale sits at 20–30%. That's fine, but don't plan your budget around the headline number. Sort the sale by discount and see how many items really get there.
On AtDealPoint, a deal that says “up to” is always shown as “up to X% off selected items”, and online sales are sorted by the biggest real discount first.
3. Look at what's actually on sale
End-of-season sales are real, but they're also how stores clear stock. Before you buy, check:
- Sizes: is your size still there, or only XS and XXL?
- Season: last year's collection at 50% off may still cost more than this year's basics.
- Condition: “final sale”, “no exchange” or “display piece” changes what the discount is worth.
- Fabric and details: compare the product description with the full-price version; sale-only “specials” are sometimes made cheaper.
4. Watch the extras at checkout
Delivery charges, cash-on-delivery fees and minimum order amounts can eat a small discount. A Rs 500 saving disappears quickly if delivery costs Rs 250 and you add something you didn't need to reach free shipping.
5. Buy from the official store
Fake “sale” pages on social media copy a brand's photos and logo, take payment upfront and never deliver. Type the brand's web address yourself or open it from a list you trust. Every online sale on AtDealPoint links to the brand's own store, and the price we show comes from that store, rechecked every 6 hours.
Frequently asked questions
How can I check if a discount is real?
Compare the was-price with the same product's price on the brand's official website and at other sellers, and with what you remember paying. If the old price only appears on the sale banner, the discount is probably inflated.
What does “up to 70% off” mean?
That the biggest discount in the sale is 70%. Usually only a few items reach it; most of the sale is a smaller discount.
Are end-of-season sales real?
Usually yes — brands clear the season's stock at genuine discounts. The catch is choice: popular sizes and designs sell out first, so the best items go in the first days.
